Humber Curling Executives

Hello Humber Curlers

I do hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer.

The Humber executive have started planning for the upcoming season!

There are a few items I would like to bring to your attention:

As you recall, we dropped the (Seniors) word in our name last season and switched to use Humber Curlers in order to better reflect how we want people to view our group. So we will refer to ourself as such even tho some of our legacy online platforms may still refer to Humber Seniors.  We are working through this transition!  All e-transfer info will remain as it was in the past for now!

As you will see, registration information for the 2024-25 season is below.

We have regular league play on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 – 11:30 am

The season is broken up into 3 – 6 week sessions:

  • Fall: Oct. 16 – Nov. 27th
  • Winter: Dec. 2nd – Jan. 31st (includes 2 week Christmas break)
  • Spring: Feb. 3rd – Mar. 28th (These dates are subject to change based on the needs of Mississaugua Golf & CC.)

Members can register for all three mornings or any combination of playing days. Note: Flowertown play will conflict with Monday morning Leagues so please sign up for one or the other.  Spares are encouraged for all leagues as each member is responsible to find own spares.

Additional Optional inter-club play for a small fee is available at:

– Flowertown Mixed Seniors (Chinguacousy) Monday Mornings 10-12 am & 12:15-2:15 pm

– Mississaugua Senior Men Mondays & Wednesdays 1 – 3 pm (individual sign-up)

– 2 In-house Bonspiels for everyone – Fall and Spring (two 6 end games with lunch)

– 1 Inter-club Friendly Bonspiel vs Mississaugua in Mar. (2 – 8 end games with Skills & lunch)

CALLING ON NEW MEMBERS: Our special introductory fee and program for potential new members will again be in place. ($100.00 for the first 6 weeks of unlimited eligible league play) (A Prorated continuation fee would be assessed for the final 12 weeks) Please encourage your friends to come and join us this season, even if they have never tried the game! We plan on having clinics on Friday mornings to get them started on a sound footing and then have a ‘mentor’ help them as they start to play!

Please let us know if anyone has some extra equipment that they would like to donate so that the new members may borrow to try out curling!

We are also planning some instruction and practice ice for experienced curlers on some Friday afternoons. Even the most seasoned curler can get better! (a nominal fee will apply) Details to follow.

Registrations will run from Tues., Sept., 3rd through Fri., Sept., 20th, 2024 – You will receive a followup email with the Registration Procedures very soon!  In the meantime please contact Kevin Quinlan to get any new members on our mailing list.

If you have any questions concerning your registration and/or planned schedule for the 2024/2025 season, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Kevin Quinlan membership@humberseniorscurling.ca

Good Curling,

Doug Martin

PS We are hoping to have an introductory Open House on Wednesday Oct. 9th from 9:30 – 11:30 am – Mark you calendars and we will have more details later.
