Dear Humber Curlers,

We hope everyone is having a great summer!

I know curling may be the last thing you’re thinking about but it’s is only 2 months before we are back on the ice. The official welcome news letter will be coming from John Rudd shortly and we expect registration to open on Sept. 2nd.

We are excited about the 2025/26 curling season and remain hopeful that each of you will be returning this year.   As in past years, we are always looking for ideas on how to improve the club, how to expand our membership and more importantly, how to improve your overall experience.

MAKING THE CLUB INCLUSIVE AND SOCIAL:

Over the past year, many of you have expressed an interest in making our club more inclusive, fun and social.  As guests of the Mississauga Golf and County Club, we are limited in what we can do, however we have a few ideas, including;

– Continued: Learn to Curl & Skills workshops on Fridays

– Continued: Mentorship for new curlers

– Continued: Fun bonspiels and other events

– New: Quarterly coffee days

– New: Family & Friends days – PLEASE JOIN US ON JAN. 2nd

NEW MEMBERS:

Most new members come from referrals within our existing membership, so we are asking for your support in promoting the club with your family, friends and neighbours.  Please also consider printing & posting the attached poster at appropriate locations (sponsors, retirement condominiums, community centres, church groups, etc.).

As a reminder to help promote the club:

– Humber Curlers is an affordable, 50+ mixed curling club

– We play on the rink at the Mississauga Golf & Curling Club

– There are house leagues that play Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am.  You can pick the one or more days to play

– There is no prior experience necessary as we have teaching & mentor sessions available on Fridays to get you started.  No matter your ability, all curlers are welcome. In addition to traditional curling delivery, stick curling lessons are also available for anyone who prefers.

– The season is broken down into three sessions (fall, winter and spring) and runs from October to March, with fun bonspiels and events throughout the season.
