We are pleased to inform you that Dixie is scheduled to re-open for curling on Monday January 31, 2022.
Please review the important information below in order to assist in a safe and smooth transition back to play.
- All members are now required to provide proof of vaccination using Government QR code, CurlON QR code, and answer screening questions EVERY time they enter the club. This is a change as of Jan 4, 2022, and was mandated by the Province of Ontario. We are evaluating the best way to accommodate this requirement, more information on the process will follow.
- If you are experiencing ANY Covid symptoms, no matter how minor, please do not come to the club.
- For the initial return, we are asking that all members wear their masks on the ice except while throwing or sweeping (one sweeper only). If using two sweepers, both must be masked. Skips can lower their mask when calling sweeping, but are asked to wear it otherwise. Sweeping behind the tee is allowed and skips may sweep their oncoming rock only if other sweepers relinquish the rock. We also are asking curlers to be masked when standing with teammates on the sidelines or at the back of the house.
- Masking will still be required while moving around the club. Masks can be removed while seated for eating and drinking.
- All games will continue to play by the bell, this rule remains the same. We ask that teams sanitize their rocks at the end of their game.
- The bar will be open and the upstairs lounge will operate in the same manner, with an hour for socializing after your game.
At this time, we are looking at the option of having make up games on Saturdays and discussing the possibility of extending the season to the end of April. Convenors will be contacting their teams to get feedback on these options.
Safety requirements and protocols will be updated by the Board as needed or required by government measures. The health and safety of our members and employees is paramount. Social distancing norms should be respected and we ask that if you have not already done so, please consider getting a booster shot. We all want to be back on the ice and enjoying curling for the remainder of the season.
